Honor Guard Training 101 is a 40 hour course, taught in one consecutive week and designed to put current or potential honor guard members at the top of their game. Developed with the combined input from law enforcement, fire service, and military, Honor Guard 101 is taught in a strict, well organized and easy to learn manner.
Besides traditional military drill and ceremony, students are trained in profession specific duties, such as line of duty funeral procedures and parade etiquette, as well. With the majority of the class time spent executing maneuvers in a hands-on setting, students given the opportunity to work one-on-one with instructors in order to perfect their skills. Students will demonstrate their accuracy and excellence as they participate in a mock funeral ceremony and maneuver a standard competition course for evaluation.
Other course exercises include, but not limited to, basic and advanced marching, color guard protocol and procedures, rifle and parade tool demonstrations, flag folding, and much more. Warning - This course is skill based and requires all students to participate equally. Honor Guard 101 will take students beyond just learning basic maneuvers and drills. Striving for proficiency, instructors will consistently encourage students to perfect their skills. This course may not be suited for everyone.
Organizing Tragedy
This 2-day course is designed for any member of a law enforcement or fire/EMS agency that may be involved in writing policy and/or organizing details pertaining to the death of a department or agency member. Whether you're an honor guard member or staff officer, being prepared for tragedy and having standardized procedures in place is a must is a must.
Organizing Tragedy uses a systematic approach to teaching standardized procedures necessary to prepare your department, organize your resources, and maintain tradition; all while focusing on the needs of the decease's family members. Students will learn the important elements of a funeral policy, how to conduct a benefits investigation, establishing a funeral chain of command, why the need for a separation of honors, and much more.
Whether your department has never considered what it will do, or has suffered the tragic loss of a member, Organizing Tragedy has something to offer everyone. This course is classroom based and contains only logistic and procedural based content and material.

Originally designed for volunteer and part-time department members, Honor Guard Basics is perfect for agencies that don't have enough time to attend a full week of training, or the funds for multiple members to attend. Honor Guard Basics is just what its name's says; this is a down and dirty 16 hour training session of just the basics of honor guard maneuvers and funeral protocols. Best of all, Honor Guard Basics can be conveniently held right at your facility.
